We’ve been stewing for a few months, eagerly waiting for this day to come. Ever since November, our focus has been on one day, and one day only – the start of the 2012 CFL season and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers matchup against the B.C. Lions.

It has been a tumultuous off-season for the blue and gold to say the least. The club lost key members of its roster to retirement, and already injuries are looking to put a dent into the season, which will now be the last (so far) at the old Stadium in Winnipeg.

We know how excited all of our Thompson, Manitoba football fans are, and we’re getting ready to host all the action tonight at The Regal Beagle. Our seven big-screen TVs are warmed up, our cold beer is chilling and our staff is ready to greet you with a smile and, of course, a hearty “Here we go Bombers, here we go!” chant.

We hope you will join us tonight for the start of what may very well end up being the most memorable season in Winnipeg Blue Bomber history.Don’t delay – reserve your table at The Regal Beagle for tonight’s action. Call us at 204-677-4551 for more information.

See you tonight!

Happy 145th Birthday Canada!

At long last, summer officially kicks off this weekend with our country’s birthday. Easily one of the most anticipated days of the year, Canada Day is one of the few times where everything shuts down for the day and cities across this land of ours celebrate together.

Thompson, Manitoba is certainly no different from this trend. Those who have been to our Canada Day celebrations know them well as being the best that can be found in our region. The way our community comes together is unparalleled.

This year’s festivities will take place at the Thompson Regional Community Centre. While many of the favourites will be returning, including the free community brunch, kids games and concerts, we’re especially excited for what will be a fantastic addition to our Canada Day lineup from the good folks (pardon the pun) at Folklorama.

The details of Folklorama’s plans are being kept pretty tightly guarded at this point, but we can be assured that whatever is being cooked up is going to be fantastic.

School’s just about out here in Thompson, and that means only one thing – it’s time for your kids to get out and enjoy their summer break.

Planning for your kids can be a bit difficult, especially if they’re tired of the usual summertime activities – playing baseball or soccer with their friends, going on family picnics, riding bikes… it’s fun for the first week or so, but soon you’re exposed to that always feared lament, “there’s nothing to do!”

So this is where you have to step in, especially if you want to save your kids from wasting their precious off-time away sitting in front of a television or playing video games.

The solution then, would be to hit a local waterslide park, which seems like a good idea at first, until that moment of realization strikes that you’re likely not the only parent to have thought up the same scheme to keep your kids occupied.

So we’d like to humbly offer up an alternative to you – bring your kids indoors for a pool party at the Burntwood Hotel! Our facilities are available for rental, which means that you can have our area just for yourselves and your kids!

Whether for birthdays, class parties or just for an afternoon of fun, contact us today to book your pool party at the Burntwood Hotel in Thompson Manitoba.

Yes friends, CFL football is on its way back, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are getting ready for a new season ahead.

May and June are busy times on the calendar in Manitoba, but not just for us adults – it’s also a social time of year for kids.

Many of our kids’ birthday parties and sports windups will be taking place within the next month or so before summer starts and all their friends go separate ways.

This means you’re facing a double cohort of not only May and June birthdays, but July and August as well as parents do their damndest to get their child the best party they can.

So as you try to plan your child’s party, you might start looking to alternatives from the traditional cake-and-ice cream home party, and one of the best things you can do as a parent is provide your child with a great seasonal party, which means an outdoor activity, and usually will include some pool fun.

There’s only one problem though – an outdoor pool party, of course,  is subject to the famed Manitoba outdoor weather conditions, which can be bright and sunny one minute and be in a downpour a minute later.

So why not bring the outdoors indoors?

That’s what we’ve done at The Burntwood Hotel. We have the only indoor waterslide in all of Thompson, and we have it available for your child and their friends for that birthday party, wind-up party or other kid-targeted celebration.

To learn more about our pool parties and the availability of our facilities, fill out our event form here or call us at 204-677-4551.
